The Fragment Society is a women's charitable society, founded in 1812 in Boston and incorporated in 1816. The volunteer members of the Fragment Society make and buy clothing to be given to those in need. It is one of the oldest continuously operating sewing circles in the United States. The Society celebrated its Bicentennial in October 2012.

Mission

Our mission is to provide new clothing, bedding, and baby layettes for families referred to us by our partner social service agencies in the Greater Boston area.

In 2023, the Fragment Society helped more than 1300 individuals, including more than 650 new mothers who received Baby Layette Gift Bags.

Baby Layettes

Layette Gift Bags include a handmade item, a board book, a soft toy, and a selection of toiletries, undershirts, onesies, pajamas, playsuits, special outfits, towels, washcloths, and receiving blankets.
